Let’s talk about Rune.
She’s the main character of my romantic fantasy novel—powerful, awkward, a little dramatic, and absolutely not interested in being anyone’s pawn. She also happens to be the God of Fate, which comes with… a few complications.
While I’ve shared the book’s blurb already, I wanted to do something more relaxed and personal this time. So here are 10 fun (and slightly chaotic) facts about Rune—some of which even she would be mildly embarrassed to admit.
1. Her biggest fear? Spiders. 🕷️
Unfortunately, her fear becomes very real later in the book when she ends up battling giant, nightmare-inducing spiders. I did that to her because I’m scared of them too. Sorry, Rune.
2. She’s the proud god-mother of two divine cats. 🐈
Rune’s minor gods are Chance and Coincidence—two snarky little forces of mischief who have permanently taken the form of cats. Rune is obsessed with them and will absolutely brag about them at any opportunity.
3. She drinks tea like it’s a survival strategy. ☕️
Coffee makes her jittery, and when Rune gets jittery, her powers act up. Think random people tripping, streetlights exploding, or minor chaos breaking out in a five-meter radius. Tea is safer. For everyone.
4. Her best friend is the God of Love—and that’s exactly as messy as it sounds. 💕
Halia, the Goddess of Love, is sweet, affectionate, and way too enthusiastic about Rune’s love life. She once gave Rune very enthusiastic (and very misleading) advice that landed her and the God of Death in a jungle full of suspiciously sensual vines. No, Rune hasn’t forgiven her. Yes, Halia thinks it’s hilarious.
5. When she’s nervous, she talks. A lot. 🗣️
Rune doesn’t just get flustered—she gets chatty. The more uncomfortable she is, the more she rambles, often saying way too much in situations that require, well… a little less. It’s one of her more charming flaws.
6. Her cottage looks like a jungle—and she’s proud of it. 🌱
Rune has a deep love for plants. Her cottage is overflowing with greenery, and when she’s forced to move in with the God of Death, she immediately starts sneaking houseplants into every corner of his cold, empty manor. (He pretends not to notice. He notices.)
7. One of her favorite hobbies is translating ancient texts with goblins. 📚
She splits her time between nurturing plants and digging through dusty scrolls in the divine library. When she’s not investigating lost rituals, she’s helping the goblins decode old magic texts—because who wouldn’t want to do that in their free time?
8. She’s obsessed with dragons. 🐉
Rune had never seen one up close—until the God of Death took her into the divine realm and introduced her to one of the dragon leaders. She’s been starry-eyed about them ever since.
9. She’s secretly kind of a badass. 😎
After centuries of isolation in the mortal world, Rune taught herself how to fight. At first it was just to feel capable. But later, that training becomes pretty essential when she’s faced with threats that can’t be solved with plants or sarcasm.
10. She starts off uncertain—but she doesn’t stay that way. 🫶🏼
Living in hiding left Rune with a lot of doubt—about her powers, her purpose, and even herself. But throughout the story, she starts to grow into her own strength. She doesn’t just follow fate. She starts rewriting it.
I’ve loved writing Rune’s journey—watching her grow from someone quiet and unsure into someone capable of shaking up the divine world (and maybe falling in love along the way). If you like your fantasy gods a little flustered, a little stabby, and secretly very soft, she might just be your girl.
